Up in the mountains

9 Days Bogotá Diverse Climate High Altitude Advanced

The Colombian escarabajos or beetles was the given to the Colombian cyclist during the 80’s given their impressive climbing skills in the mountains. During this one week tour we will be up and down the different mountain ranges, among hot valleys and majestic views, getting a feel of what has made a lineage of great cyclists, while we also enjoy a little bit more chilled pace from time to time. Although the nickname is now part of the cycling tradition, the new wave of colombian riders like Nairo Quintana, Esteban Chaves, Sergio Henao and Rigoberto Uran have brought a lot of attention to the current state of affairs of the Colombian cycling, and now you can also immerse yourself in the experience. Wake up and smell the coffee (quite literally). This tour is the most climb intensive part of La Heroica Tour. If you still have the energy we have some amazing initial 3 days for you to explore other parts of the country.

“Great experience and a lot of fun! Superb logistics and organisation of Cyclota. The beauty of Colombia and friendliness of the people were key take aways and the cycling was merely the vehicle and only a small part of the wonderful experience.”
