Today’s ride will reward you with some of the most incredible landscapes Colombia has to offer. We start with a swift descent. We end our ride by climbing to 1800 meters where will edge along a ridge line which has spectacular views on either side. Distance: 85 kilometres Altitude gain: 1600 metres
La Pintada lives up to its name. “The Painting” is a lush tropical valley that sits at the foothills of the central Andean Colombian mountain range and is banked by the second largest river in Colombia. This stage is for the most part rolling and is a great way to recover from our previous mountain stages. Distance: 105 kilometres Altitude gain: 1000 metres.
A new day, a new challenge. Alto de Minas is a legendary climb and the source of the story of “Los Escarabajos”. The Beetles as they were known in English, were Colombian cyclists in the 1980s who bedazzled the pro circuit with their supreme climbing skills. At the end of a 40 kilometre climb will arrive at the outskirts of Medellin – Colombia’s second largest city. Distance: 90 kilometres Altitude gain: 2000 metres.
Medellin, the city of eternal spring, is a great place for a rest day. Spend the day relaxing at the hotel or enjoy this cosmopolitan centre by foot. There is plenty to explore.
